To Pay or Not To Pay?

My paid subscription is about to run out. I don't see that there are really any benefits that paid members have that I take advantage of.

Do you pay for your LJ? Why or why not?

Are You Going to Finish Strong?

Nick Vujicic has no arms or legs but has come to terms with his lot in life and he delivers an inspirational speech to these school kids that they will probably never forget.

What is blog candy?

spring flower
When I read some blog posts, the author will say they have some "blog candy", or they'll refer you to someone else's blog with the promise of "blog candy" there.

Is it supposed to be a giveaway? A cool craft project? Something pretty to see? A great photo? There doesn't seem to be a consistent *thing* that defines "blog candy".

Christmas Pun

A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse.

“But why,” they asked as they moved off.

“Because,” he said, “I can’t stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer.”

To Kindle or not to Kindle

spring flower
That is the question.

Would you buy the Kindle at $359 or Sony Reader at $299.

Aaarrgghhh!

I also have some books in Microsoft Literature format. I assume I can't read them on either device. Anyone know? I'm rushed and haven't had time to research on my own.

My Mac and Me

spring flower
Sometimes, I wish I could ask really stupid questions about my MacBook Pro. But they are such stupid, elementary questions, and I'm too embarrassed to ask them.

I'm completely patient when helping others with software questions and Windows/PC-based questions. (I don't know so much about hardware, but I certainly know enough to 'get by'.) At the same time, I realize how completely BASIC my Mac questions are. And I can't ask them. Sigh.

I am reminded of my former daycare provider (she had children older than I) and her friends. English was their second language. I would try to teach them basics about the computer and Excel (because they all ran daycares). I setup the spreadsheet, and would try to teach them basics about entering data and updating formulas and a little formatting. Now I know how they felt. Helpless and clueless.

Sigh.

Kids are healing

Thanks for all the well wishes last week. The kids are healing well. Christopher is probably at 95% (still occasionally complains of pain, but he might just be a little jealous of the attention Alexis is getting).
